Tidbits Along Life's Journey

Today I write about a “team”! Most of us have at one time or another been part of a team; whether it was a college soccer “team”, or a little league “team”, a soft ball “team”, a basketball team, or even a TEAM like the Detroit Tigers. (I sure would like to congratulate them for their latest “flogging” of the New York Yankees). If you’ve had the privilege, you realize the importance of a “team”. Yes, I remember the cliché “there is no I in TEAM”, but, this venture seems different. In this case, I feel, our Lord put together a TEAM and allowed me to be a small part. The team make up is interesting … we have our “eternal optimist”, who always looks on the “bright” side, i.e., when a car honked it’s horn then BACKED UP to discuss the matter all because we (me) had stopped in the highway … our Pastor, (optimist) said that perhaps they just wanted to pray about the matter. Somehow, I (along with the other member of the team) felt they had other intentions in mind. Then we have the Informational Technology person - maps, directions, and details, yep, he has the entire plan. Then, there’s me … well, I can’t figure out my role … but it’s an HR type … What’s so amazing about this team … we eat, sleep, and live together in a “traveling room” … about 10 foot wide … and 30 foot long. Now we worry about “grey water” and “black water” (not to be confused with Iraq) and after 4+ weeks EVEN I KNOW THE DIFFERENCE. We do laundry, make sandwiches, and occasionally eat a hamburger cooked by our leader. We had never met before the Go 10 Project nor knew anything about each other. Imagine, being put together with people that you know … less along with people that you misspelled their name for the 1st 3 weeks that you met them. Somewhere in that UPS history, I remember being told that none of us are as good as all of us together. I have never been more aware of that fact as in the past months and recent weeks. Who else would take a Pastor with passion and patience and the energy of a 17 year old, the computer skills of Bill Gates, and combine that with a 70+ year old with the energy of a 25 year old, with an attention to detail that only few hope they could ever possess and then add another retiree and expect great results. I truly count it a privilege to just be a part of this team and the team of Christ and for those of you that know me … YEP, I get “kinda” choked up over entire venture just watching our Lord work with my “team”. I'm sure the past few weeks have been very meaningful to you, those on your team, and especially to those you are helping via this walk. (hmm? you may not have spelled your teammates' names correctly in the beginning, but did you get the right name tagged to each one? AKA Pam) Still Smilin'

Thank you for taking the time to keep us all up to date on the walk. I loved the videos on youtube and am following your adventures on Twitter. My family and I go to First Freewill Baptist Church in Newport, Tennessee and will be joining you on day 50 (i believe). We are very excited about it. I don't know how many people have signed up so far, but I know several families were interested in helping. Take care and May God protect you and keep you from injury on your journey of love. Rhonda
